The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What, then, is amiss with them that they will not believe [in a life to come]? 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
