The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 And he who is given his ledger in his right hand 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
