S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Suad, I swear by the Quran, full of admonition. 1 But those who disbelieve are in pride and dissension. 2 How many generations have We destroyed before them who cried (for mercy) when it was too late for escape. 3 They wondered that a warner had come to them from among themselves, and the deniers of the Truth said: “This is a sorcerer, and a big liar. 4 Has he turned so many gods into one deity? This is indeed a strange thing!" 5 The chiefs among them go about, exhorting: Go and be staunch to your gods! Lo! this is a thing designed. 6 "We never heard (the like) of this among the people of these latter days: this is nothing but a made-up tale!" 7 "What! has the Message been sent to him - (Of all persons) among us?"... but they are in doubt concerning My (Own) Message! Nay, they have not yet tasted My Punishment! 8 Do they possess the treasures of your Lord, the Most Mighty, the Great Bestower? 9 Or is theirs the kingdom of the heavens and earth and of what between them is? Why, then let them ascend the cords! 10 this host too, among other hosts, is bound to suffer defeat. 11 Before them (were many who) belied Messengers, the people of Nuh (Noah); and 'Ad; and Fir'aun (Pharaoh) the man of stakes (with which he used to punish the people), 12 And (the tribe of) Thamud, and the folk of Lot, and the dwellers in the wood: these were the factions. 13 Not one of them but belied the Messengers, therefore My Torment was justified, 14
