The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 He surely will invoke destruction 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 for, behold, he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except to those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for theirs is an unfailing recompense. 25
