The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 His account shall presently be taken by an easy reckoning. 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 But what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them they do not make obeisance? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
