The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 will be easy, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He once lived among his family joyfully; 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 Nay; I swear by the twilight; 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 that you will certainly pass through one stage after another. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 But Allah has full knowledge of what they secrete (in their breasts) 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
