The tribe of Ad rejected the Messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said unto them: fear ye not? 124 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 125 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 126 I do not ask for any payment for my preaching. I shall receive my reward from the Lord of the Universe. 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 And do you take to yourselves underground reservoirs, in order to live for ever! 129 “And when you apprehend someone, you seize him mercilessly?” 130 So fear God, and obey me; 131 "And keep your duty to Him, fear Him Who has aided you with all (good things) that you know. 132 succoured you with flocks and sons, 133 And orchards and springs. 134 Lo! I fear for you the retribution of an awful day. 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers! 136 This is but a fable of the men of old, 137 “And we will not be punished.” 138 And they belied him; so We destroyed them. Verily herein is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 Surely, your Lord is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 140
