The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 in obedience to the commands of their Lord which are incumbent on them, 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 will be easy, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 Will pray for death, 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 He verily lived joyous with his folk, 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So announce to them a painful torment. 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
