The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
O you (Muhammad SAW) enveloped (in garments)! 1 Arise, and warn. 2 proclaim the greatness of your Lord, 3 And your clothing purify 4 and defilement flee! 5 Do not bestow favours in expectation of return, 6 be patient unto your Lord. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 And sons abiding in his presence 13 and whom I have provided with every resource, 14 After all that he desires that I should give more; 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 frowned and scowled; 22 and he turned his back and behaved arrogantly 23 and said: “This (Qur'an) is merely a sorcery of yore; 24 'this is nothing but mortal speech.' 25 I will cast him into the fire of Hell. 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 It spares not (any sinner), nor does it leave (anything unburnt)! 28 Darkening and changing the colour of man! 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 We have not appointed the guards of hell, except angels; and did not keep this number except to test the disbelievers – in order that the People given the Book(s) may be convinced, and to increase the faith of the believers – and so that the People given the Book(s) and the Muslims may not have any doubt – and so that those in whose hearts is a disease and the disbelievers, may say, “What does Allah mean by this amazing example?” This is how Allah sends astray whomever He wills, and guides whomever He wills; and no one knows the armies of Allah except Him; and this is not but an advice to man. 31
