The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 and when the earth is leveled, 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He truly will receive an easy reckoning 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 And as to him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 They lived among their people joyfully 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Surely yes, why not? Indeed his Lord is seeing him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 or by the moon when it is full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 God is quite aware of what they are storing in their hearts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
