Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 that is fueled from a tremendously hot fountain, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 well arranged goblets, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
