The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 and had thought that they would never be brought back to life again. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knoweth best what they are hiding. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
