The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 and when the earth is stretched out 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then whoso is given his account in his right hand 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the glow of sunset, 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 That you will climb from stage to stage. 19 What is wrong with them that they do not believe? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
