The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given his Book from behind his back 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Behold, [in his earthly life] he lived joyfully among people of his own kind 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 Why not? His Lord was always watching him. 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 Wherefore announce thou unto them a torment afflictive. 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
