The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He will invoke (his) destruction, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 (Muhammad), tell them that they will all suffer a painful torment 24 Except those who believed and did good deeds – for them is a reward that will never end. 25
