The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I CALL TO witness the heavens and the night Star -- 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 [for] no human being has been left unguarded. 4 So man must consider from what he has been created. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 Proceeding from between the back-bone and the ribs, 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And [by] the earth which cracks open, 12 this (Qur'an) is surely a decisive Word, 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 They are hatching up a plot, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: Give respite to them gently (for awhile). 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
