The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 It is the piercing star - 3 There is no soul which is not guarded (by the two angels who record all of its deeds). 4 Now let man but think from what he is created! 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 God has all power to resurrect him. 8 The Day when secrets will be put on trial, 9 He will have no strength or helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And it is not amusement. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 So respite the unbelievers; delay with them awhile. 17
