The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
When the sun shall be folded up, 1 And when the stars shall dart down, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas are filled with flame 6 when the souls shall be rejoined (with their bodies), 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 And when the books are spread, 10 and when Heaven is laid bare; 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 And the night when it departs, 17 and the first breath of morning. 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 Obeyed and worthy there of trust. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
