The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Sky and the Night-Visitant (therein);- 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Verily He is Able to restore him, 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 He shall have neither strength nor helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 Verily! This (the Quran) is the Word that separates (the truth from falsehood, and commands strict legal laws for mankind to cut the roots of evil). 13 And is not a matter of amusement. 14 They are devising guile, 15 And I am planning a scheme. 16 So grant the unbelievers a respite: let them alone for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
