The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 what do you know what the night-visitor is? 2 The piercing star! 3 There is not a soul that does not have a guardian over it. 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 which comes out of the loins and ribs. 7 God has certainly power to bring him back (from the dead). 8 The Day when all the secrets (deeds, prayers, fasting, etc.) will be examined (as to their truth). 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 by the earth cracking open with new growth. 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And it is not amusement. 14 They are planning a scheme, 15 But I am planning a plan. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
