Fir'awn said unto the chiefs around him: verily this is a magician knowing. 34 who wants to drive you out of your land by his magic. Tell us, what do you advise us?" 35 They answered: "Let him and his brother wait a while, and send unto all cities heralds 36 “To bring to you every expert great magician.” 37 So the magicians were gathered together at the appointed time on the fixed day, 38 And it was said to the people, “Have you (also) gathered?” 39 That we might follow the magicians if they are the predominant?" 40 And when the magicians came, they said to Firon: Shall we get a reward if we are the vanquishers? 41 'Yes, indeed' he answered, 'and you shall become among those who are near stationed' 42 Musa said unto them: cast whatsoever ye have to cast. 43 So they cast their ropes and their staffs, and said, 'By the might of Pharaoh we shall be the victors.' 44 Therefore Moosa put forth his staff – so it immediately began swallowing all their fabrications. 45 Then did the sorcerers fall down, prostrate in adoration, 46 And said: "We (affirm and) believe in the Lord of all the worlds, 47 “The Lord of Moosa and Haroon.” 48 The Pharaoh said, "You believed without my permission? He seems to be your chief who has taught you magic. But you will soon know (the result of what you have done). I shall certainly cut off your hands and feet on opposite sides and crucify you all together." 49 They said: "No harm! Surely, to our Lord (Allah) we are to return; 50 Lo! we ardently hope that our Lord will forgive us our sins because we are the first of the believers. 51
