The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the heaven and the Morning Star 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 So let man consider from what he is created. 5 He is created from a water dripping, 6 That is issued from between the backs and the ribs. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 when he will be helpless, with no supporter. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 the Quran is the final word, 13 It is not a thing for amusement. 14 Indeed the disbelievers carry out their evil schemes. 15 and I am devising guile. 16 So bear with unbelievers with patience, and give them respite for a while. 17
