The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, and the night-visitor, 1 How will you comprehend what the night star is? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 LET MAN, then, observe out of what he has been created: 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 Proceeding from between the backbone and the ribs: 7 Lo! He verily is Able to return him (unto life) 8 upon the day when the secrets are tried, 9 and he shall have no strength, no helper. 10 By the sky (having rain clouds) which gives rain, again and again. 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 Indeed, the Qur'an is a decisive statement, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 Therefore give them some respite – give them some time. 17
