The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And what will make you know what the comer by night is? 2 It is the star that pierces through [life's] darkness: 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider of what he is created: 5 He was created from ejaculated water 6 Emerging from between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Now, verily, He [who thus creates man in the first instance] is well able to bring him back [to life] 8 On the day when all secrets will be made public, 9 and [man] will have neither strength nor helper! 10 Consider the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil): 13 it is no merriment. 14 They are devising guile, 15 and I too am devising a guile. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
