Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a Garden on high, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 And cups set at hand. 14 And cushions ranged 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
