Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a Garden on high, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 and couches raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
