Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 Which neither nourishes nor avails against hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a Garden on high, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 therein a running fountain, 12 and raised couches, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions lined up 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
