Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 labouring, weary, 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 in a sublime garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions lined up 15 and carpets outspread. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And the earth, how it was spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Then indeed, upon Us is their account. 26
