Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In an elevated garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 Wherein is a gushing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and well spread carpets. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And the heaven how it has been raised? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
God the Almighty always says the truth.
