Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 Goblets set, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But if any turn away and reject Allah,- 23 Allah will chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
