Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Has the story reached thee of the overwhelming (Event)? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which will neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 will be punished by God with the greatest punishment. 24 To Us they will all return. 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
