The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I do not (need to) swear by this town (Mecca) 1 and thou art a lodger in this land; 2 by the begetter, and that he begot, 3 Assuredly We have created man in trouble. 4 Does he think then that no one has power over him? 5 He saith: I have wasted riches plenteous. 6 Does he then think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 and a tongue and two lips? 9 And showed him two highways (of good and evil)? 10 But he would not attempt the uphill road, 11 And what will explain to thee the path that is steep?- 12 It is the setting free of a slave 13 Or the feeding on a day of hunger. 14 To the orphan with claims of relationship, 15 Or to a Miskin (poor) afflicted with misery. 16 and to be one of those who believe and urge one another to steadfastness and compassion. 17 They are the people of the right hand (and will succeed). 18 and [as for] those who are bent on denying the truth of Our revelations, they are the people of the left hand, 19 Fire will be an awning over them. 20
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
