Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Nay! I swear by this city 1 And thou shalt be allowed in yonder city 2 And by oath of your forefather Ibrahim, and by you – his illustrious son! 3 Verily We have created man into toil and hardship. 4 Does he think then that no one has power over him? 5 He may say (boastfully); Wealth have I squandered in abundance! 6 Thinketh he that none beholdeth him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 and shown him the two paths? 10 But he hath not attempted the Ascent - 11 And what will make you comprehend what the uphill road is? 12 It is freeing someone's neck from slavery; 13 And to feed in the day of hunger. 14 An orphan, of kin, 15 Or to the poor man lying in the dust. 16 Then he became of those who believed and enjoined on each other steadfastness and enjoined on each other compassion. 17 Their place will be on the right hand. 18 As for those who disbelieve in Our revelations, they are the people of the left 19 The Fire will be shut over them (i.e. they will be enveloped by the Fire without any opening or window or outlet. 20
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
