The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of the night when it covers 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 By Him Who hath created the male and the female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 and believes in the finest, 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And gives the lie to the best,- 9 We shall facilitate for him the way to Hardship, 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Surely Ours is it to show the way, 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 Those who spend their wealth for increase in self-purification, 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 But only seeking the countenance of his Lord, Most High. 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
