Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the night enshrouding 1 and by the day as it appears radiantly, 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We shall facilitate for him the Way to Bliss. 7 And as for him who stinteth and is heedless, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 who gives the lie to the truth and turns away [from it]. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 and such, indeed, shall in time be well-pleased. 21
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
