The Night (Al-Layl)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, 1 and the day in splendour 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 Your striving is most surely (directed to) various (ends). 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 And as for him who is niggardly and considers himself free from need (of Allah), 8 and denied the Truth of goodness: 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 Therefore do I warn you of a Fire blazing fiercely; 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 But the righteous one will avoid it - 17 He who gives his wealth to be purified, 18 and confers no favor upon anyone for recompense 19 Other than seeking the glory of his Lord, most high, 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
