The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
11 verses, revealed in Mecca after Dawn (Al-Fajr) before Cooling the Temper (Al-Sharrhh)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
I CALL TO witness the early hours of morning, 1 and the night when it grows still and dark. 2 Your Lord has not forsaken you nor does He dislike you! 3 And indeed the latter is better for you than the former. 4 And verily thy Lord will give unto thee so that thou wilt be content. 5 Did He not find thee an orphan and protect (thee)? 6 And He found thee wandering, and He gave thee guidance. 7 And find you in want and make you to be free from want? 8 Do not oppress the orphans 9 And do not drive the beggar away, 10 And keep recounting the favours of your Lord. 11
