The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created the human from a (blood) clot. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Nay! man is most surely inordinate, 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A votary when he turns to his devotions? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
