The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay, but man doth transgress all bounds, 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 a servant when he prays -- 10 Have you thought, if he had been on guidance 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinning forelock. 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 No, indeed; do not obey him! Prostrate and come nearer (to Allah). ۩ 19
