A company of the former peoples 39 And a (goodly) number from those of later times. 40 Those on the Left: how unfortunate are those on the Left! 41 In scorching wind and scalding water 42 And a shade of black smoke, 43 Nothing (will there be) to refresh, nor to please: 44 Indeed they were among favours before this. 45 and would persist in heinous sinning, 46 And they used to say, "What! when we die and become dust and bones, shall we then indeed be raised up again?- 47 What, and our fathers, the ancients?' 48 Say: The first and the last, 49 "All will certainly be gathered together for the meeting appointed for a Day well-known. 50 "Then moreover, verily, you the erring-ones, the deniers (of Resurrection)! 51 you shall eat of a tree called Zakkoum, 52 and fill your bellies with it, 53 and drink boiling water on top of that, 54 drinking it as thirsty camels do.” 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Judgement. 56 We created you, then why do you believe not? 57 Have ye seen that which ye emit? 58 Did you create it, or are We the Creator? 59 It is We who have ordained death for all of you; and We cannot be prevented 60 In the matter of exchanging you for others, and to transform you into what you do not know. 61 You have known the first creation, then why do you not reflect? 62 Have you considered the seeds you till? 63 Is it you that make it grow, or are We the Grower? 64 Did We will, We would make it broken orts, and you would remain bitterly jesting -- 65 "We are ruined, 66 Nay, but we have been deprived [of our livelihood]!" 67 Did you cast a good look at the water that you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it from the rainclouds to come down, or are We the Causer of it to come down? 69 Did We will, We would make it bitter; so why are you not thankful? 70 Did you consider the fire which you kindle? 71 Is it you that produce the trees for it, or are We the producers? 72 We! it is We Who made it a reminder and a provision unto the campers. 73 Then glorify with praises the Name of your Lord, the Most Great. 74

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
