The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning. 1 We created the human being from the union of sperm and egg to test him. We gave him hearing and vision. 2 We have indeed shown him the way – whether he is grateful or ingrate. 3 We have prepared chains, shackles, and flaming fire (for the disbelievers). 4 The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor 5 A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth. 6 They keep their vows and fear a day the woe of which will spread far and wide; 7 And feed the needy for the love of Him, and the orphans and the captives, 8 We only feed you for Allah's sake; we desire from you neither reward nor thanks: 9 for we fear from our Lord a frowning day, inauspicious. 10 Therefore, God will ward off from them the woes of that Day, and make them find brightness and joy, 11 And shall recompense them for that which they patiently bare with a Garden and silken garment. 12 Reclining in it, upon thrones; they will not see the hot sunshine in it, nor the bitter cold. 13 the shading branches of trees will come down low over them, and their clusters of fruit, will hang down where they are the easiest to reach. 14 And they will be waited upon with vessels of silver and goblets that will [seem to] be crystal 15 crystal of silver that they have measured -- very exactly. 16 They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water 17 From a fountain therein, named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness): If thou seest them, thou wouldst think them scattered Pearls. 19 If you were to see it, you would find it to be a great kingdom with great bounty. 20 Upon them there will be garments of green silk, rich brocade, and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. Their Lord will give them a pure beverage to drink. 21 Verily this is for you by way of recompense, and your endeavour hath been accepted. 22
