The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 That he thinketh himself independent! 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Did you see him who forbids 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 Or enjoins righteousness? 12 Hast thou considered whether he may [not] be giving the lie to the truth and turning his back [upon it]? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
God the Almighty always says the truth.

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
