The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 and enjoins piety? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 The lying, sinful forelock - 16 Then, let him call his assembly, 17 We too shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
