The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 He created man from a clot. 2 Read, for your Lord is most beneficent, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 because he thinks himself self-sufficient: 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) seen him (i.e. Abu Jahl) who prevents, 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Do you think he is rightly guided, 11 or if he commands others to maintain piety!? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Did he not know that God sees? 14 And yet indeed if he does not desist We shall drag him by the forelock, 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
