The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Read in the name of your Lord Who created. 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Read - for thy Sustainer is the Most Bountiful One 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen the one who prohibits 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Does he not know that God observes all things? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
