The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 because he thinks that he is independent. 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 A votary when he (turns) to pray? 10 What will happen if the praying person is rightly guided 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Knoweth he not that Allah doth see? 14 Nay, if he desist not, We shall most surely drag him down upon his forehead 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 Nay, pay thou no heed to him, but prostrate thyself [before God] and draw close [unto Him]! ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
