The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 Teacheth man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Surely your returning is to your Lord. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 a servant of Ours from prayer? 10 Hast thou seen if he relieth on the guidance (of Allah) 11 and enjoins piety? 12 Have you seen if he denies and turns away - 13 Does he not know that Allah sees everything? 14 Nay, but if he cease not We will seize him by the forelock - 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We shall call on the guards of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
