A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
206 verses, revealed in Mecca after S (Saad) before Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim-Sad. 1 This is a Book revealed to you. Let there be no impediment in your heart about it. (It has been revealed to you) that you may thereby warn [the unbelievers], that it may be a reminder to the believers. 2 Follow what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow guardians besides Him, how little do you mind. 3 How many a township We have destroyed! Our scourge fell upon them at night, or when they were taking midday rest. 4 No plea had they, when Our terror came unto them, save that they said: Lo! We were wrong-doers. 5 Then surely, We shall question those (people) to whom it (the Book) was sent and verily, We shall question the Messengers. 6 Then most certainly We will relate to them with knowledge, and We were not absent. 7 The weighing on that Day will be the true weighing: those whose scales are heavy will prosper. 8 And as for him whose measure (of good deeds) is light those are they who have made their souls suffer loss because they disbelieved in Our communications. 9 It is We Who have placed you with authority on earth, and provided you therein with means for the fulfilment of your life: small are the thanks that ye give! 10
