Al-Hijjr 3 of 6
We created man out of dry clay, from moulded mud, 26 And the Jinn race, We had created before, from the fire of a scorching wind. 27 Recall when your Lord said to the angels: "I will indeed bring into being a human being out of dry ringing clay wrought from black mud. 28 "When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him." 29 Then the angels bowed themselves all together, 30 except Iblis who refused to join with the others in prostration. 31 Said He: "O Iblis! What is thy reason for not being among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud." 33 Said Allah, “Therefore exit from Paradise, for you are an outcast.” 34 and will be subjected to condemnation until the Day of Judgment." 35 "O my Lord," said he, "give me respite till the day the dead are raised." 36 The Lord said, "Your request is granted 37 Until the Day of the time well-known." 38 [Whereupon Iblis] said: "O my Sustainer! Since Thou hast thwarted me, I shall indeed make [all that is evil] on earth seem goodly to them, and shall most certainly beguile them - into grievous error 39 But not such of them as are Thy bondmen single-hearted. 40 Allah said: this is the path leading unto Me straight. 41 Verily as for My bondmen, no authority shalt thou have over them, except the erring one who follow thee. 42 And indeed hell is the promise for all of them. 43 Unto it are seven portals; unto each portal is a portion of them assigned. 44

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
