The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
96 verses, revealed in Mecca after T H (Taa Haa) before The Poets (Alshu'araa')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 there is no denying its coming 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of those of later time. 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Wherefrom they get no aching of the head nor any madness, 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 A recompense for that which they have been working. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 and flower-clad acacias, 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water everflowing. 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
